The Throat Chakra

The fifth chakra is the throat chakra which is the planet of expression. The Sanskrit word is visuddha which means purification. The fifth chakra is located at the neck and throat area it is an energy pathway between the lower part of your body in your head. It is associated with the planet mercury which rules communication. The throat chakra is associated with vocal and creative expression and it helps to transform thoughts. The throat chakra is a turquoise blue color. The throat chakra is associated with his element of sound, communication and expression. This chakra is associated with the mouth, tongue, jaw, brachial plexus as well as the neck and shoulders. When you open your throat chakra you improve your ability to communicate. 

A blocked  throat chakra may affect your emotional integrity, how will you handle confrontations, your relationship and your ability to be healed and noticed. A blocked throat chakra may also cause social anxiety problems, lack of creativity, immature or aggressive speech, shyness, fear of expressing yourself, and you may feel stuck or blocked expressing yourself. This may cause you to keep things inside and bottle things up, which is not good for your health. 

An open throat chakra open can enhance your life. When your throat chakra is open, it enhances your ability to communicate. A balanced throat chakra can also create a healthy and balanced life for those around you. An open throat chakra can also lead to an increase in self-esteem and when your voice is heard and it can help heal relationships. 

You can heal your throat chakra by expressing yourself, writing, reading books out loud, Singing, silence can also help open your throat chakra. It allows you to take a break from the rat race and chaos in the world and to reflect and be at peace with your thoughts. 

The following affirmations will help to open your throat chakra. I recommend seeing them once or twice a day until you feel the throat chakra is balanced and opened. 

  1. I am clear, open and honest with my communication.

  2. It is OK to express my feelings to others.

  3. I can creatively express myself with ease and comfort.

  4. I can express myself through talking, writing, drawing and creating.

  5. I have the ability to speak my truth to others.

  6. My voice matters and others want to hear what I have to say.

You can unlock your throat chakra by using the following techniques:

  1. Using a throat chakra stones such as lapis, aquamarine and turquoise. Lapis helps can you to communicate honestly. Aquamarine provide you with courage when you are communicating. Turquoise helps boost your self-esteem. I recommend that you keep the stands either on your nightstand, in your pocket or purse or on your desk.

  2. Meditation and Visualization exercises will help open your throat chakra. Here is a quick throat chakra meditation. Sit quietly. Take five deep breath’s in through your nose & slowly exhale through your mouth. Relax the top of your head and relax your forehead, your face, your mouth, Your jar and your neck. Picture a bright blue ball of light spinning in directly at the level of your throat. Imagine the vibrant turquoise blue color spinning and glowing. Imagine the blue light Getting bigger and bigger. Focus on your throat center opening and relaxing. Allow the healing blue light to envelop you. Open your eyes.

You can perform this exercise 1 to 2 times a day until you feel your throat chakra is open. 

There are some foods that can open the throat chakra too. Blueberries are the very very best to open your throat chakra. If your throat chakra is blocked just eat a ton of blueberries. This will help! Any fruit that grows on trees is great too such as apples, oranges, lemons, pears, peaches and limes. Lemongrass and ginger are also really great to help open your throat chakra. Once your throat chakra is open, you will feel more comfortable expressing yourself with confidence and ease.
